Beginning at approximately 12 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12th, Central Avenue (US-54) will be reduced to one lane for both eastbound and westbound traffic. To control the traffic in the area, temporary traffic signals will be installed near Central Avenue and Griffith Street.
These measures are being implemented due to the discovery of unstable subsurface as part of the ongoing Central Avenue Improvement Project, and to allow for continued work that needs to take place next week. The temporary traffic signals and lane reduction will remain in place until approximately Aug. 16.
The City of El Dorado is taking these precautions to ensure the traveling public's safety. We urge drivers to be mindful of the additional traffic restrictions in the area and to observe the current 20 mph speed limit. If possible, we advise motorists to consider alternative routes during this period to avoid potential delays.
